NOPI/NHRA has the new rules posted but didn't have any for the bikes?  I didn't get a response on the NOPI forum if they will have a "race by race" invitation only like NHRA has had in the past.  Anyone heard anything??

Yeah it would be kind of sad to have the race here and no bikes since we could probably get 20 or so....:(

It looks like on the Rocky Mountain Raceway in July has invited the Summit ET bikes/snowmobiles but it won't be a points race.  They also have the Top Dragster and Top Sportsman cars but those will be for points.  It should be a good time, plus I don't have to travel...lol  So Janie, Charles, Tom, and....all the St Louis people, you're welcome to race at RMR this year!

Just an update....the track hasn't decided if it's going to count as a points race for the RMR Summit ET bike/sled class.  They are afraid if a lot of bikes show up from out of town it might mess up the season points.  But I say BRING IT ON!!   So I'll let everyone know as soon as I find out.

Race is back on...but without NOPI!  RMR's drag manager decided to put on a race anyway.  So the bikes will be there running the Summit ET program both July 18th and 19th.  Everyone is welcome to come and play!  $300 to win both days with $35 entry and $20 for track registration.

More bad news...NOPI cancels rest of 2008 season.  Hopefully they or NHRA will be back with Sport Compact racing in 2009.

NHRA announces Lucas Oil categories for sport compact racers

Thursday, July 17, 2008

On the heels of the disappointing announcement July 16 by NOPI Motorsports regarding the cancellation of the remainder of the NOPI Drag Racing Series season, NHRA has outlined the classes in which sport compact racers can compete in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA Summit Racing Series.

Sport compact racers in the Pro RWD, Pro FWD, Modified, and Hot Rod classes can compete in the Competition Eliminator category. All Motor racers can compete in the Super Stock category effective Jan. 1, 2009.  Both categories are part of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, the premier Sportsman series in drag racing.

Drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series compete for national and divisional championships, and select categories are showcased at NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series national events as well as divisional events around the country.

Racers who competed in the Sport FWD, Sport RWD, and Street Stock class can continue to race in the NHRA Summit Racing Series. The NHRA Summit Racing Series features a bracket racing format that allows drivers to compete on an equal basis against each other.   NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals are conducted in each of NHRA's seven divisions, and winners advance to the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship held in conjunction with the NHRA POWERade season closer in Pomona. Both NHRA series are conducted at NHRA member tracks around the country.
