    Posted: 05 February 2004 at 8:43am
I just got the new rule book and thought it was good to read and see whats new. I noticed the new rules that were worked out for Funnybike have been changed. Basic rules were No forced induction nitro, 650 lbs minimum  with 13 inch tire max.  The new rules state 14.5 inch tire max with 12 inch tire min for a Promod style bike. ??Does this mean all the Harleys that run High gear only with up to 14.5 inch tires can run Top Fuel or they can run in Funnybike again now if they choose. I believe Furr is running High gear only if I am not mistaken as well as many others. I noticed the changes to payout qualifing and not pay first round loser any more as in alternates in the show do to breakage. So if you qualify and break and can not make the show you get paid.  The rules on the front brakes state 11 5/8 x 3/16 min. I have seen many entries running the ten inch brakes with no inforcement of this rule. Dual cable throttle as seen on few of the bikes another rule that is overlooked by most. As all bikes run fuel pumps & the rules state steel braided fuel lines on pump driven fuel systems will this rule be inforced or overlooked as it has in the past. Just trying to clear up the Gray area of rules. If the bikes do not conform can they be protested out  for not  having  the right size front brake or the lines or the cables. Nomex underclothing for legs mandatory, where do you buy these. Does one conform to all these rules and then see many overlooked? Or not and still pass tech?

Did you try Prostar on this? I always figured if you build YOUR bike to the rules then you don't need to worry about what the other guy is doing. Just because they are not in compliance doesn't mean you shouldn't be.

I liken the rulebook to the law. The law is not always enforced, but it is still the law. If you abide by the law, you should not have a problem. If you break the law, you might get away with it, but if you are caught you don't really have a complaint. Just because the cop let 10 speeders by while he was eating a donut doesn't mean you are allowed to speed.

Nomex undies available at Jeg's (1-800-345-4545)(www.jegs.com)  and Summit (1-800-230-3030)(www.summitracing.com) . Jeg's has Simpson Nomex underwear pants at $69.99 to $84.99 depending on size also Under-X Nomex underwear pants at $99.99 for any size (and I would venture that they have RCI available also). Summit has RCI Nomex underwear pants at $34.50 for any size. Nomex undershirts and headsocks are also available from both these suppliers.

I read in the rule book where they are going to be doing random drug tests?I thought that was kind of odd. Also sobriety tests,with.04 being intoxicated. They seem to be really cracking down ,since they got the TV deal.

Also there is a rule on crew uniforms.I believe that anyone going up with you has to be dressed appropiately(no tank tops)t-shirts tucked in,or can be untucked with collared shirt. This is defiantely for TV.Im sure they want anyone that is shown on Tv to look professional.

Pops read the thread in the Ama/Prostar heading, the thread is called Prostar pre registration. It talks about the stating line crew issues.
My signature was the same as Fasthouse's signature but then he changed it to some hoodoo voodoo stuff!
