Jason,
I see you guys run a 5.60 index class. Has there been any thought on a 5.20 index class. Weare looking at your series for next year.

Lonnie
They only run the 5.60 at Rockingham and most of the time there wouldnt be enough time to do anything else at MIR. The bike count is heavier at that track and it takes quite a while to get the program in now.

I think the norteast is lacking in the series dept this year.
I wish the old days of Wacky Als Quick Bike Shootout was still strong.
Come on down to the Mason Dixon race Oct.10th.
It would be real nice if something of a series came about between some of the tracks like Atco,Mason Dixon,Cecil,Capitol etc.
One race per track points series.
Its time for something different to break out.

I hope new things come about next year. MIROCK is a great series but as with every other event the bike counts are down this year. I really wish I had the resorces available to get something going but I am in the same position as most everyone else now( The waters rough and ther's a hole in my boat). Its GOT to get better next year all the way around, lets just get through this winter.

Marion, the local(150 mile radius) series is a great idea, I think racers willingness to participate would increase knowing they had a short tow to all races in the series, but it would require input from real racers with the best interest of the sport in mind. At this point I think cost controll will be the determining factor in everyones decision to participate. I would gladly put selfish ambitions aside to help make this happen. It was sad to see so many of our GOOD local racers not entering last weekend at atco because of the COST. There were more hands reaching in than we had pockets to pick.
I drilled a hole in my boat to let the water out!

My late father always had a notion, that the best way to run a racing series would be as a non-profit organization, with all proceeds after cost being distributed to the racers. The funds would be placed back to the racer either via prize monies or, for instance, subsidizing entry fees should a surplus be achieved.
He theorized that this would be an effective way to keep politics and bias out of the situation. Maybe it's just Utopian thinking, but I've always wondered if a group of enterprising racers could pull it off. Sounds like you may have the nucleus of such a group here, Marion. Perhaps do it 'unofficially' for a season, like one big "Gambler's Race series". Then, if it has some promise, look into what it takes to become a real NPO (non-profit organization) entity. Bill thats a great idea and one that really needs to be looked at. Thanks for the input. I would really like to hear from some of the racers as to what tracks would be good to use. I said earlier the MIROCK series is a very good one as well as the others but nothing for the north east racers. The old Shootout at Englishtown was one of the best series I have ever raced at. It cost us quite a bit just to go there but it was always worth the trip. Things seam to be at an all time low as far as racer participation and that looses sponsors, vendors and spectators at the events. Its also hard to do races that dont conflict with near by series and have an open track date. I would like to see Ceicl county, atco, englishtown, maybe capitol and mason dixon get something going. I would be easy enough to do other than the money now. VMP is really trying to be bike racing frendly as well.
