Now you need to start a new thread ...lies chassis shops/ paint shops/ engine builders/ parts suppliers / tell
I can't count how many times I've been told "we will be able to finish and have it shipped tomorrow". Doesn't matter if its a transmission, cylinder head or custom painting a fiberglass headlight.

I had a crankshaft specialty shop in Memphis Tennessee tell me for 2 months that he had shipped the crank, UPS brought it back & not sure why, didn't have the proper material to build the crank, will get it shipped next week, will get it shipped this week, I can't refund your $1500 deposit because I've already started the build, will ship it next week, fine be an arse and demand your deposit back, in that order. I finally threatened that if I didn't get my deposit, I would make it worth the 8 hour drive to his shop. Finally got paid.

"We'll turn it around for you as soon as we get it" ya right. I really wish people would not promise what they can not do. Most repair facility owners need to hire a qualified and educated Manager or take some courses in business management. It's typical for techs to become business owners without any idea how to actually run a business. I've seen this way too many times in my line of work and it really hurts their reputation in the long run. |

I have been doing this since the seventies. That is why I decided to start doing things my way , I have been building performance dragbikes for over twenty years has it really been that long ago? I was the first Canadian to quilafy at a Pro-Stock event back in 1983 at was was the only place to race P/S the NMRA. We are currently the only ones in Canada building our own cranks, developing our own heads, billet blocks, chassis, twostage oiling systems for turbos, our own turbo and EFI systems, full auto trans, sleeveing ect. Al bought a shaft from me last year. I do a lot of work for some of the P/M CMDRA guys along with a lot of streetbike dynotuning and engine building. The one thing that always cripples us in getting things done is parts availability, a lot of the so-called parts suppliers do not have complete in house abilities which is understandable you just can,t do everything and this sometimes creates a bottleneck of parts availability. sometimes you just can,t tell how much of anything will sell let alone profit margins and stuff. look at some of the top fuel teams they are now developing their own parts just to feed the need which ads up to a big expenditure. will the purses in motorcycle drag racing warrant suppliers having more stock versus racers carriying more spares? Or are there too many suppliers for a given market? Can the market grow to demand more inventory held in stock at suppliers? Its easy to bitch about it but harder and more expensive to do anything about it. I will be building more stuff to satisfy the needs of my customers but will it be worth it to develop more parts to create sales? I dunno. I am sticking my neck out this winter spending a lot of money on CNC stuff to build some parts and secure our parts problem, and maybe generate some more buisness but our machine will not just be for dragbike parts as we already have some car guys wanting stuff built as they are having the same problems its not just the motorcycle industry having these problems.

Putting the shoe on the other foot.
Get it going and I will send the money right away.
I can pay as soon as my settlement check comes in.
I had the money but some things came up.
I need it this weekend and I will pay extra when I get paid next friday.
The post office must have lost it both times.(all my bills ALWAYS get here)
Why do you want money up front? I know so and so will do it and I would just get them to do it but.
