Rivalries make sports, Venus vs. Serena in tennis, Ferrari vs. Mercedes in Formula 1, Toyordchevodge in NASCAR (Quite possibly soon, Toyordodge)and Suzuki vs. Kawasaki in motorcycle drag racing.

Concerning the Zuk and Kaw, which one really comes out on top?

Suzuki had 64 top 10 season finishers while Kawasaki had 34 in AMA Dragbike for 2008. Suzuki and Kawasaki each had (5) 2008 Championships. (This does not count T/F and F/B as these engines barely resemble either manufacturer.) On the surface in AMA Dragbike, Suzuki seems like the dominant player.

But when you look at the statistics it took less Kawasaki bikes to win the same amount of championships.

I posted this in Funny, Sick or Twisted to see what your most outlandish explanations might be for this seeming imbalance in the statistics.

Why is it that it takes less Kawasaki bikes to win the same amount of Championships as Suzuki?

It is too bad bench racing is not measureable. That way someone would win.

In et and index classes, it is the rider not the bike.  just my opinion.

And as far as it taking less kawasakis to win the same amount, us poor folks have been doing so much with so little for so long that we can do anything with nothing.

Tank,

Those stats were from all classes, Pro and Sportsman, except for T/F and F/B.

I think the planets align for for the Kawasaki riders on race weekends more often.  LOL

From what you just wrote I come up with this; Better riders have less money and gravitate towards Kawasaki.

As a Suzuki rider that poses a problem for me, I am not a good rider and I put stupid money in my bike. Now I know what I have been doing wrong.

BTW. This post is for fun and I am expecting everyone to go off the deepend here with no feelings getting hurt. I have to say this because we all secretly know the Suzuki riders take pity on the Kawasaki riders and let them win occasionally. After all it would be no fun to race if it were nothing but Suzuki's out there...Tongue

What is up with Honda? Why are there only 3 people I know of who race them? Mark Sproul with his CBX, Stotz and you.

Yamaha is kind of in the same boat.

Not a lot of options for performance parts for Honda and Yamaha, like there is for the Suzuki & Kawi.

Steve,

"Zip" starts with "Z". Definitions:

1 : to move, act, or function with speed and vigor.
2: to impart speed or force to
3 : to transport or propel with speed

All of which a Suzuki is doing when it is pulling away from a Kawasaki...Wink

In all fairness, I own a Suzuki. It stays over at my lake property. It has been the best boat anchor I've ever owned!!

I raced a KZ for years. I sold out one time and got back into racing and found a deal on a GS that I could build in to a bracket bike. If I had found a Kawi first I would have bought it. Both brands make a great drag bike. Hey I would race a Moped if it could haul the mail like a Kaw or Suk.
