Team orders are ruining our sport! This is not an anti V&H post because a lot of "teams" including the car teams are doing this now a days. What the heck, I want to watch a race not one that is decided before you even hit the water box! I wish there was some way to "fix" this "team" crap but now that the Genie is out of the bottle how can you ever put it back??

Am I alone in my way of thinking about this?? Got blasted on another site and was told that you should give team mates the wins if they need them and it is stupid and ignorant to do anything otherwise................. what the heck happened to "racing" for it?

My signature was the same as Fasthouse's signature but then he changed it to some hoodoo voodoo stuff!

I am with you bro...

Think about it this way Wade... he is the one that has to look at that trophy everyday with a hole in his stomach.

He raced so great all year, I just dont understand why they would want to cheapen it at the end.

Maybe thats the difference in thinking between a Pro Racer and a Sportsman racer....maybe the other things involved for a pro race team makes that sort of call make sense.

I dunno.

I'll have to agree with Wade and Jeff on this one. Even though I knew it was going to happen, having to watch it just cheapend the whole thing. I turned the tv off and decided I'd just read about who won the race.

I will kindley disagree with you concerning the NHRA Finals.  I am NOT in favor of "team orders" at any time other than the last race of the year and only one member is in contention.  This is the only time the "team" concept should come in play.  I remember a few years ago when Tony Pedregon was driving the Force #2 car and it came down to Pomona.  Force and Tony were #1 and 2 in the points.  I wondered if "orders" were out to Tony.  If Tony won he would win his first championship and if he lost John would win his umteenth. I bet many of you remember this.  They both ran for the win.  Pedregon had low e.t. by a couple hundreths but Force won on a hole shot.  He won by a couple thousands.  It was the most exciting pairing I have ever seen.  If Tony or John had not been in contention I bet it would not have turned out the same.  If Andrew had beat Eddie yesterday giving the championship to Rivas most people would be accusing him of being the stupidist most selfish racer in the world and demanding Byron fire him.  You know what?  Byron probably would have.

All I know is, If I had raced as hard all year as Eddie did.. and someone told me I had to take a freebie for the championship... I would have been pissed.

I raced hard to get to that point... how can you take all that way from me by giving me a round?

If I cant win it... I dont deserve it.

I bet Eddie feels the same way. In ten years hardly anyone else will remember the freebie.

Eddie will.

The beautiful thing about our country, and our system is that we all are
entitled to our opinions! If it were you guys racing in Eddies place you would
have done the most important thing for the team & the business; GET THAT
CHAMPEENSHIP!
I pride myself on integrity and honor. I have been racing for a long time,
sportsman (the hardest racing by far) and pro. If I were in Eddies shoes, I
wouldn't feel bad at all for getting a "freebie" if that's what you want to call
it! That would be the "bonehead move of the century" if Drew would have
beat him and given the title to Rivas or Smith.
Just my 2 cents....

Once upon a time people use to race for their championship............ all the way to the last round of the season. Now it's about this sponsor/business or that sponsor/business. I respect you guys opinions but I am also entitled to mine and I will be 80 years old and remember that pair down the track. It just tarnishes it for me and it just sucks with all these multiple teams now a days that the outcome can be manipulated.

Jeff, Steve, I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way.

I am in favor of all of us having and being allowed to share our opinions.......

Eddie/VHR/HD won the Championship by working very hard, winning the most rounds.....using all of their resources, being the most reliable, focusing and keeping their eye on the prize.......great job to all of the team and Eddie for coming a LONG way to riding/driving as good as he does.....and to the VHR boys for making power and reliability that, at one time, was not even possiable.

Very worthy competitors in our book. We measure our performance by compairing to the best Motorcycle Drag Racing has to offer.....The Champions. Good Job.
